Rodeo Clown

$20.00

Rodeo Clown is a Nebraska Award winning collection of 48 poems and 24 images by Quentin Fortney. The book explores themes of solitude, becoming, inherited environment, existential surrender and western mythology. Playing with the poetic combination of text and image, the landscape of the Great Plains provides the backdrop for the project. Characters find themselves striving for independence with a doomed idealism with the voice oscillating between sardonic humor and aching vulnerability. This is an ode to unfulfilled longing that defines both the individual and a part of the collective American psyche.
